Joshua Williamson and Tom Reilly’s will be wrapping up their first Energon Universe story arc with G.I. JOE #6. This finale will very likely define the direction the series will take as we head into even bigger things. Now ahead of its April 16th release Skybound and Image Comics has provided us with a preview of G.I. JOE #6 to share.

As we saw with how G.I. JOE #5, we can expect the showdown between Duke and Cobra Commander to headline the finale for the series first story arc. That is directly teased in the solicitation for the April issue:

With the release of G.I. JOE #6 the main cover will be handled by the series artist Tom Reilly. Additionally, variant covers by artists Derrick Chew, Lorenzo De Felici, Karl Kerschl, Travis Moore & Adriano Lucas, and Daniel Warren Johnson & Mike Spicer will also be available. First Look: Preview the First Arc Finale of G.I. JOE by Joshua Williamson, Tom Reilly & Jordie Bellaire

LOS ANGELES 03/21/2025 — Today Skybound and Image Comics, in collaboration with leading games, IP and toy company Hasbro, revealed interior pages and the lineup of variant covers for G.I. JOE #6. From the chart-topping, critically acclaimed creative team of writer Joshua Williamson (DukeCobra Commander), artist Tom Reilly (Duke) and colorist Jordie Bellaire (DukeW0rldtr33), the first arc finale of the comic book introducing a bold new vision of G.I. Joe and Cobra to the Energon Universe will hit comic books shelves on April 16, 2025.

In addition to the main cover by Reilly, G.I. JOE #6 will feature an open-to-order variant cover by Derrick Chew; an open-to-order variant cover by Lorenzo De Felici; the completion of the 1:10 incentive connecting cover series by Karl Kerschl; a 1:25 incentive variant by Travis Moore & Adriano Lucas; and a 1:50 incentive variant by Daniel Warren Johnson & Mike Spicer.

G.I. JOE is a tentpole of the Energon Universe, the crown jewel of the historic collaboration between Hasbro and Skybound, who has introduced a brand-new era of the TRANSFORMERS and G.I. JOE franchises in one shared comic book universe.
