Energon Universe Preview: Scarlett #4

Shana O’Hara, aka Scarlett, proved her loyalty to Clan Arashikage by successfully accomplishing the mission she was given. Scarlett had to make a lot of tough decisions that showcased her fighting and spy abilities. Now we have a hint at what is next for her as Image Comics and Skybound have provided us with a first look at Scarlett #4 to share.

Releasing on September 4th, writer Kelly Thompsonartist Marco Ferrari, and colorist Lee Loughridge will be showing us what Scarlett’s success will now lead to. We got a teaser of that in the solicitation for the fourth issue:

Scarlett has infiltrated the Arashikage for one purpose–locate and extract Jinx…but the true purpose of her best friend’s mission becomes clear, and it’s an enormous game changer for the entire Energon Universe! 

Scarlett #4 main cover will be handled by the series artist Marco Ferrari. Additionally, there are several variant covers by an all-star line-up of artists, including Yasmine Putri, Gleb Melnikov, Vasco Georgiev, and Chuma Hill. Check out the covers and four-page preview below:

First Look: Scarlett #4 Reveals a Game Changer for the Entire Energon Universe

LOS ANGELES 08/09/2024 — Today Skybound and Image Comics, in collaboration with leading toy and game company Hasbro, revealed an impressive lineup of variant covers and interior pages from Scarlett #4, the penultimate issue of the G.I. JOE miniseries from the superstar team of writer Kelly Thompson (Black Widow, Birds of Prey), artist Marco Ferrari (Frontiersman), and colorist Lee Loughridge (I Hate This Place, Killadelphia). Scarlett #4 hits comic book shops on September 4, 2024.

Scarlett #4 will feature a main cover by Ferrari, along with a stacked lineup of variant covers including an open to order cover by Yasmine Putri (Dark Knights of Steel), the fourth cover in the 1:10 incentive connecting cover series by Gleb Melnikov (Robin), a 1:25 incentive variant by Vasco Georgiev (Batman: Urban Legends), and a 1:50 incentive variant by cover artist Chuma Hill.

Rounding out the lineup of four action-packed G.I. JOE miniseries that introduce the iconic characters of the G.I. Joe and Cobra teams to the Energon Universe, Scarlett joins Duke by Joshua Williamson (SupermanDark Ride), Tom Reilly (The Thing) and Jordie Bellaire (W0rldtr33), Cobra Commander from writer Joshua Williamson, artist Andrea Milana (Impact Winter: Rook) and colorist Annalisa Leoni (Oblivion Song), and Destro by writer Dan Watters (Loki, Universal Monsters: Creature from the Black Lagoon Lives!), artist Andrei Bressan (Dark Ride, Birthright), and colorist Adriano Lucas (Dark Ride, Nightwing). These miniseries set the stage for a fresh new take on G.I. Joe, Cobra and the iconic characters that you only think you know!

Scarlett is a series within the Energon Universe, a cornerstone of the historic collaboration between Hasbro and Skybound, with TRANSFORMERS and G.I. JOE comics finding a new home with the publisher to introduce a brand-new era for these landmark franchises in one shared universe.
