Energon Universe Preview: Transformers #13

The Transformers series just wrapped up a massive story arc with Optimus Prime making a game changing decision. It certainly created a lot of possibilities for the direction of not just this series but the entire Energon Universe. Now ahead of its October 9th release date Skybound and Image Comics first look at Transformers #13 to share.

For this upcoming October issue writer Daniel Warren Johnson and colorist Mike Spicer will be joined by artist Jason Howard. With that we will be taking a short break from the current Autobot vs Decepticon battles. The story break will happen to give a two-issue spotlight on Starscream origin story. That is something teased in the solicitation for Transformers #13:

After the stunning events of his battle with the Decepticons, Starscream has been left for dead. Now the secret to surviving the future may be revisiting his shocking past…

New Arc Debut! First Look at Starscream’s Secret Origin in TRANSFORMERS #13 By Daniel Warren Johnson and Jason Howard

LOS ANGELES 09/12/2024 — Today Skybound and Image Comics, in collaboration with leading toy and game company Hasbro, revealed interior pages and the lineup of variant covers (including a surprise secret variant cover) for TRANSFORMERS #13, the two-time Eisner Award winning series from writer Daniel Warren Johnson (ExtremityDo a Powerbomb), artist Jason Howard (Super Dinosaur), and colorist Mike Spicer (Stillwater, Murder Falcon). TRANSFORMERS #13 kicks off a two-issue Starscream origin story featuring art by Jason Howard and will hit comic book shops October 9, 2024.

In addition to the main cover by Daniel Warren Johnson and Mike Spicer, the lineup of variant covers for TRANSFORMERS #13 includes an open-to-order cover B by series artist Jorge Corona & Mike Spicer, a 1:10 incentive variant kicking off a new connecting cover series by Viktor Bogdanovic (Detective Comics), a 1:25 incentive variant by cover Jorge Fornés (Rorschach), a 1:50 incentive variant by cover artist Francesco Mattina, a 1:100 incentive variant by cover artist Homare, a blank sketch cover, and a special surprise open-to-order cover by Ludo Lullabi (cover artist, Harley Quinn).

TRANSFORMERS is the cornerstone of the Energon Universe, the crown jewel of the historic collaboration between Hasbro and Skybound, who has introduced a brand-new era of the TRANSFORMERS and G.I.
