Transformers #13 spotlighted Starscream’s origin story. During that story we saw his life back when he was known as Ulchtar on Cybertron and good friends with Jetfire. The issue ended with a big hook ending that further tied the worlds of Transformers and G.I. JOE together. Now Skybound and Image Comics has provided us a preview of Transformers #14 ahead of its November 13th release.
As we saw at the end of the previous issue the heavily damaged Starscream appears to have been captured by M.A.R.S. This development alone is a big one that connects the Transformers and G.I. JOE franchise closer together. Factoring in the events of Destro #5 Starscream being captured by M.A.R.S., who has a close working relationship with Cobra, it is highly likely this will bring us yet another step closer to the eventual Energon Universe crossover. That is further teased in the solicitation for Transformers #14:

LOS ANGELES 10/17/2024 — Today Skybound and Image Comics, in collaboration with leading toy and game company Hasbro, revealed interior pages and the lineup of variant covers for TRANSFORMERS #14, the two-time Eisner Award winning series from writer Daniel Warren Johnson (Extremity, Do a Powerbomb), artist Jason Howard (Super Dinosaur), and colorist Mike Spicer (Stillwater, Murder Falcon). TRANSFORMERS #14 wraps up a two-issue Starscream origin story featuring art by Jason Howard and will hit comic book shops November 13, 2024.

In addition to the main cover by Daniel Warren Johnson and Mike Spicer, the lineup of variant covers for TRANSFORMERS #14 includes an open-to-order cover B by series artist Jorge Corona & Mike Spicer, a 1:10 incentive variant continuing the connecting cover series by Viktor Bogdanovic (Detective Comics), a 1:25 incentive variant by cover Jorge Fornés (Rorschach), and a 1:50 incentive variant by cover artist Derrick Chew.
