Free Comic Book Day is just a little under two weeks away. One of the biggest comic books that releases on that day will be Energon Universe Special 2025. Skybound and Image Comics has provided us with an early look at what to expect from what will be included in this Free Comic Book Day release on May 3rd.
For the Energon Universe Special 2025 we will get stories from G.I. JOE’s Joshua Williamson, Void Rivals’ Robert Kirkman, and Transformers’ Daniel Warren Johnson. They will be joined by artists Adrea Milana, Conor Hughes, and Johnson.
With the writers for the three main Energon Universe titles this FCBD special will look to set the tone for the rest of 2025 and beyond. There have already been big things in development. The Energon Universe Special 2025 will give us further hints at where the universe is headed.

LOS ANGELES 04/17/2025 — Today Skybound and Image Comics, in collaboration with leading games, IP and toy company Hasbro, revealed the lineup of variant covers and interior pages from the highly anticipated Energon Universe Special 2025.
First available with an exclusive cover as part of Free Comic Book Day on Saturday, May 3, 2025, this special serves as a perfect jumping on point for new readers and a can’t miss for longtime fans, with huge revelations in store, including the first appearance of a major character.
Discover three all new stories from the Energon Universe, with stunning revelations for the worlds of G.I. JOE, TRANSFORMERS, and VOID RIVALS from the biggest names in comics. Energon Universe talent Joshua Williamson (Duke, Superman), Robert Kirkman (Invincible, The Walking Dead), and Daniel Warren Johnson (Extremity, Do a Powerbomb) pen the stories, and Andrea Milana (Cobra Commander), Conor Hughes (White Ash) and Johnson will provide art.
