Rogue 1-1 January 2025 Comic Book Sales Rankings

January 2025 Comic Book Sales Rankings

It is time to check out the January 2025 comic book sales rankings. Things are getting murkier in terms of actual unit numbers, so we will have to settle for going to ICv2 for their Top 200 sales rankings. They are not as good as actual unit numbers, but we have to work with what we get.

Remember that the Top 200 sales rankings are based on sales tracked at point-of-sale by the ComicHub system at over 125 local comic book shops selling American comics. These sales rankings represent sales to consumers by local comic shops.

We all know that these ICv2 sales charts based on the ComicHub system are not the best. However, as long as publishers hide their sales statistics, this is the best that we have to go by. You do see that these sales charts give a rough sketch of the market because titles that get canceled correspond with low sales rankings in these ComicHub charts. I wish we had better data to analyze, but we have to make do with whatever data we have these days.

The data for the January 2025 comic book sales rankings was collected based on a five-week month, from January 5, 2025, to February 1, 2025.

You can go over to ICv2 and check out the Top 50 for January 2025 for free or opt for a pro membership (It is well worth the money) and get the Top 200 for January 2025 and then come back here for a detailed analysis of the January 2025 comic book sales rankings!

Numbers were up from three years ago as Dynamite Entertainment had zero comics in the Top 10 in January 2022.

Space Ghost #9 climbed from the number 107 spot to the number 75 spot. I am amazed that Space Ghost is still in the Top 75 with its 9th issue. This is far better than I expected. As a long-time Space Ghost fan, this makes me smile.

IDW Publishing placed two comics in the Top 75. Month-over-month sales were up from the one comic that IDW Publishing had in the Top 75 in December 2024.

Year-over-year numbers increased as IDW Publishing had zero comics in the Top 75 in January 2024.

Sales are down across the board for Marvel Comics compared to a year, two years, and three years ago. To be sure, Marvel Comics still has a considerable lead over DC Comics in the battle for the Top 100. But DC Comics has been making some small inroads.

DC Comics placed thirty comics in the Top 100. Month-over-month sales were up/down/flat from the thirty-six comics that DC Comics had in the Top 100 in December 2024.

Numbers were up from three years ago as DC Comics had twenty-six comics in the Top 10 in January 2022.

While the gap between Marvel Comics and DC Comics is still considerable, it is a positive sign to see DC Comics making gains compared to a year, two years, and three years ago.

Image Comics placed eleven comics in the Top 100. Month-over-month sales were up from the five comics that Image Comics had in the Top 100 in December 2024.

Numbers were up from three years ago, as IDW Publishing had one comic in the Top 10 in January 2022.

You Won’t Feel a Thing #1 debuted at the number 88 spot.

Oni Press had one comic in the Top 100. Month-over-month sales were up from the zero comics that Oni Press had in the Top 100 in December 2024.

The Joshua Williamson Award For The Writer With The Most Titles In The Top 50

Three writers had two issues from the same title in the Top 50.

Gail Simone had two issues from the same title in Uncanny X-Men #8 at the number 7 spot and Uncanny X-Men #9 at the number 12 spot.

Kelly Thompson had two issues from the same title in Absolute Wonder Woman #4 at the number 3 spot and Absolute Wonder Woman #3 at the number 24 spot.

Scott Snyder had two issues from the same title in Absolute Batman #4 at the number 1 spot and Absolute Batman #3 at the number 21 spot.

Five writers had two issues from different titles in the Top 50.

Erica Schultz had two issues from different titles in Daredevil Unleash Hell – Red Band #1 at the number 20 spot and Laura Kinney: Wolverine #2 at the number 34 spot.

Al Ewing had two issues from different titles in All-New Venom #2 at the number 17 spot and Immortal Thor #19 at the number 46 spot.

Jonathan Hickman had two issues from different titles in Ultimate Spider-Man #13 at the number 4 spot and Wolverine Revenge – Red Band #4 at the number 26 spot.

One writer had two issues from different titles and different publishers in the Top 50. That would be Joshua Williamson with GI Joe #3 at the number 14 spot and Superman #22 at the number 38 spot

However, one writer stood above all else with three issues from different titles in the Top 50.

Mark Waid had three issues from different titles, with Justice League Unlimited #3 at the number 13 spot, Batman and Robin Year One #4 at the number 39 spot, and Batman Superman World’s Finest #35 at the number 49 spot. Waid may be old and unhinged, but the dude knows how to write popular superhero comic books!

Therefore, the winner of the Joshua Williamson Award for January 2025 is…Mark Waid!

Big Events

Raid on Graymalkin

7 Uncanny X-Men #8 (Raid on Graymalkin)

62 X-Men #9 (Raid on Graymalkin) (Resolicitation)

170 Uncanny X-Men #7 (Raid on Graymalkin) (Resolicitation)

Raid on Graymaklin had one comic in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and one comic in the Top 50. This was worse than in December 2024, when Big Event had two comics in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50.

Hasbro Franchise

9 Transformers #16

14 GI Joe #3

41 Void Rivals #16

93 GI Joe A Real American Hero #313

150 Void Rivals #15 (Resolicitation)

169 Transformers #15 (Resolicitation)

178 GI Joe #2 (Resolicitation)

The Hasbro franchise had one comic in the Top 10, two comics in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50. This was better than December 2024, when the Hasbro franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, two comics in the Top 25, and two comics in the Top 50.

Year-over-year numbers were down as the Hasbro franchise had two comics in the Top 10, two comics in the Top 25, and five comics in the Top 50 in January 2024.

Transformers #16 climbed from the number 14 spot to the number 9 spot. This title had to survive the onslaught of new Absolute Universe titles as well as all of the newly relaunched X-Men titles over the past several months. But, Transformers weathered the storm well and has finally returned to the Top 10.

GI Joe #3 climbed from the number 23 spot to the number 14 spot. Image Comics is happy to see this franchise back in the Top 15 where we have come to expect to find it each month.

Void Rivals #16 climbed from the number 66 spot to the number 41 spot. This is the second consecutive month this title has increased in the sales rankings. This is close to what Void Rivals #13 scored in October 2024 when it took the number 37 spot.

GI Joe A Real American Hero #313 rocketed up from the number 160 spot to the number 93 spot. This was an excellent rebound for this title. This is even better than G.I. Joe A Real American Hero #311 which took the number 105 spot in November 2024.

Spawn Franchise

83 Deadly Tales of the Gunslinger Spawn #2

102 Spawn #360

103 Gunslinger Spawn #39

133 King Spawn #41

138 Spawn Scorched #37

176 Spawn Rat City #10

194 Spawn Violator #5

Unranked: Sam and Twitch: Case Files #10

The Spawn franchise had zero comics in the Top 50. This was the same as in December 2024 when the Spawn franchise had zero comics in the Top 50.

Deadly Tales of the Gunslinger Spawn #2 fell from the number 67 spot to the number 83 spot. This was impressive. This was a smaller-than-normal drop in the sales rankings given that this title debuted outside of the Top 50.

Gunslinger Spawn #39 climbed from the number 117 spot to the number 103 spot.

King Spawn #41 rose from the number 173 spot to the number 133 spot.

Spawn Scorched #37 climbed from the number 166 spot to the number 138 spot.

Spawn Rat City #10 went from being unranked to the number 176 spot.

Spawn Violator #5 went from being unranked to the number 194 spot. This six-issue mini-series has a shot of concluding ranked in the Top 200.

Sam and Twitch: Case Files #10 was unranked for the second month. I wonder how long Image Comics will want to publish this ongoing title as it continually struggles to make the Top 200 rankings.

Ghost Machine Titles

50 Geiger #10

79 Hyde Street #3

140 Redcoat #9

Unranked: Hornsby & Halo #3

Ghost Machine had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and one comic in the Top 50. This was better than December 2024 when Ghost Machine had zero comics in the Top 50.

Geiger #10 shot up from the number 126 spot to the number 50 spot. What a fantastic rebound for this Geoff Johns title. Geiger continues to establish itself as the premier Ghost Machine title.

Hyde Street #3 rocketed up from the number 133 spot to the number 79 spot. Wow! This is the highest spot in the sales ranking that we have seen in Hyde Street. Even Hyde Street #1 was only able to snag the number 102 spot. What a phenomenal jump in the sales rankings for this young title. This type of sales pattern is something that you rarely find in the sales rankings. The powerhouse team of Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis does it again.

Redcoat #9 climbed from the number 155 spot to the number 140 spot.

Hornsby & Halo #3 was unranked for a third consecutive month. I have enjoyed what Peter Tomasi has brought to this title. Unfortunately, I am clearly in the minority as this title has failed to attract much of an audience.

Star Wars Franchise

80 Star Wars: The Battle of Jakku #10 Last Stand (Marvel Comics)

95 Star Wars: The Battle of Jakku #11 (Marvel Comics)

99 Star Wars: The Battle of Jakku #12 (Marvel Comics)

136 Star Wars: A New Legacy #1 (Marvel Comics)

168 Star Wars Ahsoka #7 (Marvel Comics) (Resolicitation)

Unranked: Star Wars Ewoks #4 (Marvel Comics)

Unranked: Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures #14 (Dark Horse Comics)

Unranked: Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures Annual #1 (Dark Horse Comics)

Unranked: Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures – Dispatches from the Occlusion Zone #4 (Dark Horse Comics)

Unranked: Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures – Echoes of Fear #4 (Dark Horse Comics)

The Star Wars franchise had zero comics in the Top 50. This was the same as in December 2024 when the Star Wars franchise also had zero comics in the Top 50.

Year-over-year numbers were down as the Star Wars franchise had one comic in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50 in January 2024.

Numbers were down from two years ago as the Star Wars franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and four comics in the Top 50 in January 2023.

Numbers were down from three years ago as the Star Wars franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50 in January 2022.

The Star Wars franchise has completely flatlined. I am unsure if Marvel Comics can do much to reverse this trend given Disney’s handling of this franchise over the years.

Star Wars: The Battle of Jakku #10 Last Stand to the number 80 spot. Star Wars: The Battle of Jakku #11 fell from the number 80 spot to the number 95 spot. Star Wars: The Battle of Jakku #12 fell from the number 95 spot to the number 99 spot.

Star Wars: A New Legacy #1 had a horrendous debut coming in at the number 136 spot. What a disaster. This was a special issue celebrating 10 years of Marvel Star Wars comics. These were all new stories starring characters like Doctor Aphra, Valance, Chanath Cha, Rik Duel, and Commander Zahra which are all characters nobody cares about. Reader interest in “new” Marvel Comics Star Wars titles remains low.

Star Wars Ahsoka #7 ticked up from the number 171 spot to the number 168 spot. This eight-issue mini-series is doomed to conclude in the Dead Titles Walking category.

Star Wars Ewoks #4 fell from the number 200 spot and out of the Top 200 and was unranked. This title has been a complete disaster. I still cannot figure out why Marvel Comics editorial thought Steve Orlando would be a great match for a Star Wars comic book.

Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures #14 was unranked. Again. This Daniel Older title is forever unranked.

Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures Annual #1 was unranked. There was zero surprise here. This is Alyssa Wong doing what she does best: going unranked. I wish we could get the criteria used for hiring writers for Star Wars comics. It must be the ability to continually fail upward.

Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures – Dispatches from the Occlusion Zone #4 was unranked. This makes it four straight months this title has been unranked. Cavan Scott keeps doing what he does best, too.

Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures – Echoes of Fear #4 was unranked. This makes it four straight months this title has been unranked. George Mann continues to take the “L” on this title.

The High Repbulic initiative continues to be a spectacular failure for Lucasfilm as it generates zero fan interest.

Spider-Man Franchise

4 Ultimate Spider-Man #13

8 Amazing Spider-Man #65

11 Amazing Spider-Man #66

16 Amazing Spider-Man #65.1

17 All-New Venom #2

59 Miles Morales: Spider-Man #29

64 Amazing Spider-Man #64 (Resolicitation)

71 Ultimate Spider-Man #12 (Resolicitation)

104 Miles Morales Spider-Man #28 (Resolicitation)

117 What If…? Galactus Transformed Spider-Gwen? #1

120 Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #2

135 Spider-Boy #15

141 Spider-Gwen: The Ghost-Spider #9 (Resolicitation)

145 Spectacular Spider-Men #11 (Resolicitation)

166 Amazing Spider-Man #63 (Resolicitation)

177 Kid Venom #4

190 All-New Venom #1 (Resolicitation)

The Spider-Man franchise had two comics in the Top 10, five comics in the Top 25, and five comics in the Top 50. This was worse in the Top 10, better in the Top 25, and flat in the Top 50 compared to December 2024 when the Spider-Man franchise had three comics in the Top 10, four comics in the Top 25, and five comics in the Top 50.

Year-over-year numbers were down as the Spider-Man franchise had three comics in the Top 10, five comics in the Top 25, and nine comics in the Top 50 in January 2024.

Numbers were down from two years ago as the Spider-Man franchise had three comics in the Top 10, five comics in the Top 25, and eight comics in the Top 50 in January 2023.

Numbers were down from three years ago as the Spider-Man franchise had one comic in the Top 10, four comics in the Top 25, and eight comics in the Top 50 in January 2022.

The Spider-Man franchise has cooled off dramatically. Sales are at a three-year low. We shall see if Marvel Comics can succeed in heating this franchise back up in 2025.

Amazing Spider-Man #65 took the number 8 spot. Amazing Spider-Man #65.1 took the number 16 spot. Amazing Spider-Man #66 took the number 11 spot. This was better than December 2024, when Amazing Spider-Man #63 took the number 9 spot and Amazing Spider-Man #64 took the number 22 spot.

Miles Morales: Spider-Man #29 climbed from the number 132 spot to the number 59 spot. This is the same sales ranking that Miles Morales: Spider-Man #27 had in December 2024 when it took the number 59 spot.

What If…? Galactus Transformed Spider-Gwen? #1 had an unimpressive debut coming in at the number 117 spot.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #2 crashed and burned falling from the number 54 spot to the number 120 spot. This was no surprise given the weak debut number and that this title is based on an awful cringe-filled cartoon. This five-issue mini-series is a lock for the Dead Titles Walking category until its conclusion.

Spider-Boy #15 climbed from the number 152 spot to the number 135 spot. This arrested a two-month freefall in the rankings. However, it appears Spider-Boy has a tough road ahead to get back into the Top 100.

Let’s slide over to the Venomverse.

All-New Venom #2 fell from the number 6 spot to the number 17 spot. I am curious to see if this title can arrest its fall next month and remain a consistent Top 25 title.

Kid Venom #4 fell from the number 130 spot to the number 177 spot. With this issue, this four-issue mini-series has concluded. Kid Venom was a sales bust for Marvel Comics.

The X-Men franchise had four comics in the Top 10, eight comics in the Top 25, and fourteen comics in the Top 50. This was better than December 2024, when the X-Men franchise had two comics in the Top 10, six comics in the Top 25, and thirteen comics in the Top 50.

Year-over-year numbers were up as the X-Men franchise had two comics in the Top 10, five comics in the Top 25, and eight comics in the Top 50 in January 2024.

Numbers were up from two years ago as the X-Men franchise had one comic in the Top 10, four comics in the Top 25, and eight comics in the Top 50 in January 2023.

Numbers were up from three years ago as the X-Men franchise had three comics in the Top 10, four comics in the Top 25, and six comics in the Top 50 in January 2022.

The X-Men franchise is a ball of fire right now. Numbers are up by a wide margin over three years. It will be interesting to see if the X-Men franchise can keep this heater going throughout 2025.

Let’s start with the team titles.

Uncanny X-Men #8 ticked up from the number 8 spot to the number 7 spot. Uncanny X-Men #9 dipped from the number 7 spot to the number 12 spot. This title shows zero signs of slowing down. Uncanny X-Men has a pedigree that few titles can match.

X-Men #10 fell from the number 19 spot to the number 28 spot. This was a surprise. X-Men shipped two issues in December 2024. X-Men #8 took the number 7 spot and X-Men #9 took the number 19 spot. I thought that X-Men was a lock to rebound back into the Top 10. However, the opposite happened as X-Men #10 surprisingly fell out of the Top 25. This is a real stunner. This is also the lowest X-Men has sold in the rankings since its debut. The next few months are going to be pivotal for this title to see if it can regain its steam.

Exceptional X-Men #5 ticked up from the number 64 spot to the number 36 spot. This was another surprise. We are starting to see some wild fluctuation in the sales charts with several of the X-Men titles. The next few months should give insight into what sales pattern these titles will have in 2025.

NYX #7 fell from the number 46 spot to the number 53 spot. This title finally gives up the ghost and drops out of the Top 50. NYX certainly held in the Top 50 longer than I anticipated.

Sentinels #4 climbed from the number 144 spot to the number 112 spot. This five-issue mini-series is not going to be able to escape the Dead Titles Walking category before its conclusion.

Let’s check out the boys of the X-Men franchise.

Wolverine #5 ticked down from the number 13 spot to the number 15 spot.

Wolverine Revenge – Red Band #4 climbed from the number 34 spot to the number 26 spot. This five-issue mini-series is making a last-minute push to conclude in the Top 25.

Sabretooth: The Dead Don’t Talk #2 fell from the number 104 spot to the number 158 spot. This five-issue mini-series might end up dropping out of the Top 200.

Deadpool #10 fell from the number 68 spot to the number 100 spot. Yikes. The mantle-swap Deadpool gimmick blew up in Marvel Comics’ face as this title went from a Top 25 seller for its first four issues to falling off a cliff. We shall see if Cody Ziglar can resurrect this title or not.

Let’s conclude with the ladies of the X-Men franchise.

Magik #1 had a phenomenal debt taking the number 5 spot. To be fair, Magik #1 did ship with five open order covers, three reprint covers, four incentive covers, and a mind-melting seventeen retailer exclusive covers. Wow. Some of these covers are amazing. My favorites would be the Ivan Talavera cover and the Lesley ‘Leirix’ Li cover.

It is going to be tough to predict how well this new ongoing title is going to perform over the next several months. Ashley Allen is the writer and I have never heard of her at all. So, I have no context as to her ability to sell units or not.

Rogue: The Savage Land #1 had a monster debut taking the number 6 spot. Incredible! Now, this issue did ship with six open order covers, two reprint covers, three incentive covers, and seven retailer-exclusive covers. That is a lot of variant covers in general, but a downright modest amount of covers compared to Magik #1!

My favorite covers would be the Kaare Andrews cover, the Nick Bradshaw cover, and the Adam Hughes cover. They are all just brilliant. Honestly, the regular cover for Rogue: The Savage Land #1 from Andrews is phenomenal and my overall favorite cover. It has been so much fun to see all of the sexually repressed puritanical weirdos having complete meltdowns over this cover. Hilarious.

Storm #4 climbed up from the number 39 spot to the number 25 spot. Damn. This is impressive! This is the same spot in the rankings that Storm #2 had in November 2024 when it was in the number 25 spot. This title has exceeded my expectations. Historically, Storm titles have not sold well. Add to that the fact that Marvel Comics hired a complete unknown to write this title and you have a real surprise hit with this new Storm comic!

On the other hand, Storm: Lifedream #1 had a horrendous debut coming in at the number 130 spot.

Laura Kinney: Wolverine #2 fell from the number 16 spot to the number 34 spot. This was a quick drop out of the Top 25. I would expect this title to be out of the Top 50 by the next issue.

Phoenix #7 climbed from the number 72 spot to the number 56 spot. It looks like the days of Phoenix being in the Top 50 are over.

Psylocke #3 plummeted from the number 35 spot to the number 65 spot. Psylocke has fallen like a dead duck. Keep in mind this title debuted at the number 12 spot. We all knew this was going to happen once it was announced that Alyssa Wong was going to be the writer. This title should be outside of the Top 75 by the next issue.

Mystique #4 rebounded from the number 135 spot to the number 98 spot. This title managed to barely sneak back into the Top 100 after spending two consecutive months outside of the Top 100. It is going to be tough for this five-issue mini-series to conclude in the Top 100.

Avengers Franchise

23 Ultimates #8 (Resolicitation)

29 Ultimate Black Panther #12

37 Incredible Hulk #21

46 Immortal Thor #19

47 Iron Man #4

74 Avengers #22 (Resolicitation)

92 Sam Wilson: Captain America #1 (Resolicitation)

108 West Coast Avengers #3

115 Scarlet Witch #8

118 Avengers Assemble #5

163 Ultimate Black Panther #11 (Resolicitation)

175 Iron Man #3 (Resolicitation)

The Avengers franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and five comics in the Top 50. This was worse in the Top 10 and Top 25, but better in the Top 50 than in December 2024 when the Avengers franchise had one comic in the Top 10, two comics in the Top 25, and four comics in the Top 50.

Year-over-year numbers were down as the Avengers franchise had one comic in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and seven comics in the Top 50 in January 2024.

Numbers were also down from two years ago as the Avengers franchise had one comic in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and six comics in the Top 50 in January 2023.

Numbers were also down from three years ago as the Avengers franchise had three comics in the Top 10, four comics in the Top 25, and six comics in the Top 50 in January 2022.

The Avengers franchise has gone cold for Marvel Comics. The House of the Mouse has their work cut out for them to get this franchise cranked back up and flying high.

Let’s start with the team titles.

West Coast Avengers #3 fell from the number 95 spot to the number 108 spot. What a massive fall from the number 27 debut this title scored in November 2024. Gerry Duggan failed to get readers interested in this comic.

Avengers Assemble #5 ticked up from the number 128 spot to the number 118 spot. With this issue, this five-issue mini-series has concluded. This Steve Orlando mini-series was a sales disappointment for Marvel Comics.

Next, are the guys of the Avengers franchise.

Incredible Hulk #21 ticked up from the number 48 spot to the number 37 spot. This is what we expect from this title.

Immortal Thor #19 bounced up from the number 77 spot to the number 46 spot. This ended a three-month run outside of the Top 50.

Iron Man #4 climbed from the number 63 spot to the number 47 spot. This was a surprise as this is the first time that Iron Man has been in the Top 50 since Iron Man #1 debuted in October 2024. We will have to keep an eye on this title and see if it transforms into a consistent Top 50 seller or if this is an aberration.

Let’s wrap up with the sole lady of the Avengers franchise.

Scarlet Witch #8 plummeted from the number 62 spot to the number 115 spot. This is the first time this young title has been outside of the Top 100 since September 2024, when Scarlet Witch #4 took the number 105 spot.

Fantastic Four Franchise

22 Fantastic Four #28

31 Doctor Doom & Rocket Raccoon #1

45 Marvel & Disney What If…? Mickey & Friends Became The Fantastic Four #1

60 Fantastic Four Facsimile Edition #1 (2025 Printing)

154 Namor #6

The Fantastic Four franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50. This was better than December 2024, when the Fantastic Four franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and one comic in the Top 50.

Fantastic Four #28 climbed from the number 37 spot to the number 22 spot. This is the first time in many months that Fantastic Four has managed to notch a Top 25 ranking.

Namor #6 dropped from the number 120 spot to the number 154 spot. This title continues to be a sales disaster.

The Ultimate Universe

2 Ultimate Wolverine #1

4 Ultimate Spider-Man #13

23 Ultimates #8 (Resolicitation)

29 Ultimate Black Panther #12

44 Ultimate X-Men #11

71 Ultimate Spider-Man #12 (Resolicitation)

146 Ultimate Universe One Year In #1 (Resolicitation)

163 Ultimate Black Panther #11 (Resolicitation)

The Ultimate Universe had two comics in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and five comics in the Top 50. This was worse in the Top 10 and Top 25, but the same in the Top 50 as in December 2024 when the Ultimate Universe had three comics in the Top 10, four comics in the Top 25, and five comics in the Top 50.

Year-over-year numbers were up as the Ultimate Universe had one comic in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and one comic in the Top 50 in January 2024.

Ultimate Wolverine #1 had a phenomenal debut taking the number 2 spot. This issue shipped with four open order covers, three reprint covers, three incentive covers, and eleven retailer-exclusive covers. My favorite is the Lee Bermejo cover. Chris Condon is the writer and I have no knowledge of him so it is tough to predict what kind of sales success Condon might have with this title. However, I do know that Wolverine is an ATM machine and the Ultimate Universe has been a sales juggernaut so I would expect this title to do well going forward.

Ultimate Spider-Man #13 took the number 4 spot which is the same spot in the rankings this title had in December 2024. In fact, Ultimate Spider-Man #11, Ultimate Spider-Man #12, and Ultimate Spider-Man #13 all came in the number 4 spot of the rankings in the past three months. Weird.

Ultimate Black Panther #12 shot up from the number 60 spot to the number 29 spot. This was a huge unexpected jump for a title that has sold outside of the Top 50 for the past three months. We are close to seeing this title back to where it was when Ultimate Black Panther #8 took the number 24 spot.

Ultimate X-Men #11 dropped from the number 28 spot to the number 44 spot. This is the second consecutive month Ultimate X-Men has fallen in the rankings. This is also the lowest sales ranking for Ultimate X-Men to date. Are we finally seeing this title starting to lose some steam? Maybe. But, I am not ready to bet against any Ultimate Universe title at this point.

Unranked: Batman: The Long Halloween – The Last Halloween: Noir Edition #1

The Batman franchise had one comic in the Top 10, two comics in the Top 25, and eight comics in the Top 50. This was worse than in December 2024 when the Batman franchise had one comic in the Top 10, four comics in the Top 25, and ten comics in the Top 50.

Year-over-year numbers were up as the Batman franchise had one comic in the Top 10, two comics in the Top 25, and five comics in the Top 50 in January 2024.

However, numbers were down from two years ago as the Batman franchise had three comics in the Top 10, six comics in the Top 25, and ten comics in the Top 50 in January 2023.

Numbers were also down from three years ago as the Batman franchise had one comic in the Top 10, five comics in the Top 25, and ten comics in the Top 50 in January 2022.

Let’s start with the main man himself, Bruce Wayne.

Detective Comics #1093 climbed from the number 58 spot to the number 33 spot, arresting a two-month slide in the rankings. However, Detective Comics is still selling lower under Tom Taylor as part of the All In initiative than it was with Ram V’s final issue in Detective Comics #1090, which took the number 20 spot.

Batman Dark Patterns #2 fell from the number 32 spot to the number 48 spot. This twelve-issue limited series should drop out of the Top 50 with the next issue.

Batman Superman World’s Finest #35 ticked up from the number 52 spot to the number 49 spot. This snapped a two-month streak of selling outside of the Top 50.

Let’s check out the Dynamic Duo titles.

Batman and Robin Year One #4 dipped from the number 38 spot to the number 39 spot. This twelve-issue limited series seems to have found its happy place in the sales rankings.

Batman and Robin #17 rebounded from the number 109 spot to the number to the number 72 spot. This is still lower than the last issue of Batman and Robin before the All-In initiative which took the number 67 spot.

Let’s hop over to the one bat-boy title.

Nightwing #122 ticked up from the number 49 to the number 43 spot. This is two consecutive months that Dan Watters has seen his title climb in the sales rankings.

Time to wrap up with the ladies of the Batman franchise.

Catwoman #72 ticked up from the number 118 spot to the number 110 spot. Torunn Grømbekk’s horrendous start to her run continues as she cannot escape the Dead Titles Walking category. We did get some great variant cover, though. My favorite was the Nathan Szerdy cover. Nice and cheeky.

Harley Quinn #47 climbed from the number 183 spot to the number 144 spot. Elliot Kalan’s awful start on this title continues. There is no hope of this comic escaping the Dead Titles Walking category.

Superman Franchise

The Superman franchise had one comic in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and two comics in the Top 50. This was worse than in December 2024 when the Superman franchise had one comic in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and four comics in the Top 50.

Year-over-year numbers were down as the Superman franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50 in January 2024.

However, numbers were up from three years ago as the Superman franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and one comic in the Top 50 in January 2022.

Superman #22 climbed from the number 55 spot to the number 38 spot. This snapped a two-month streak of this title selling outside of the Top 50.

Action Comics #1082 climbed from the number 101 spot to the number 63 spot.

Superman Lex Luthor Special #1 had a poor debut coming in at the number 116 spot.

DC’s Lex and the City #1 had a laughably horrendous debut, failing to even make the Top 200 and ending up unranked. Image that. A comic with a gimmick based on a TV show targeting middle-aged women that concluded 21 years ago didn’t sell? Who didn’t see that coming? I can only imagine how DC Comics editors were slapping each other on the back over the concept of this comic. DC Comics editors truly are making decisions for an audience that does not exist.

Power Girl #17 climbed back into the Top 200 and took the number 149 spot.

162 JSA #3 (Resolicitation)

164 Justice League The Atom Project #1 (Of 6) (Resolicitation)

172 Black Lightning #3

180 Justice League Unlimited #1 (Resolicitation)

The Justice League franchise had one comic in the Top 10, four comics in the Top 25, and five comics in the Top 50. This was better in the Top 25 but worse in the Top 50 compared to December 2024 when the Justice League franchise had one comic in the Top 10, three comics in the Top 25, and six comics in the Top 50.

Year-over-year numbers were up as the Justice League franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, two comics in the Top 25, and two comics in the Top 50 in January 2024.

Numbers were up from two years ago as the Justice League franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and zero comics in the Top 50 in January 2023.

Numbers were up from three years ago as the Justice League franchise had zero comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and zero comics in the Top 50 in January 2022.

Justice League Unlimited #3 climbed from the number 21 spot to the number 13 spot. This title continues to be a sales monster for DC Comics. It is great to see a Justice League title succeeding in the sales rankings.

Let’s check out the boys of the Justice League franchise.

Aquaman #1 had a solid debut taking the number 19 spot. This title should certainly be out of the Top 25 with the second issue, however, maybe DC Comics will get lucky and this comic will manage to be a consistent Top 50 seller. Jeremy Adams is an excellent selection as the writer for this title. I hope this title receives good fan support.

Green Lantern Fractured Spectrum #1 had an unimpressive debut coming in at the number 52 spot.

Green Lantern #19 plummeted from the number 65 spot to the number 106 spot. Yikes. That is an alarming drop in the sales rankings. This is also the first time we have seen this title sell outside of the Top 100. DC Comics cannot afford for the Green Lantern franchise to go belly up in the rankings.

Green Arrow #20 climbed from the number 187 spot to the number 124 spot. This is a nice improvement in the rankings, but Green Arrow seems permanently stuck in the Dead Titles Walking category. This should not be the case.

The Flash #17 climbed from the number 187 spot to the number 131 spot. Again, this is a nice rebound, but the Flash has become a permanent resident of the Dead Titles Walking category. This is a huge fumble by DC Comics. The Flash franchise should be a Top 50 seller. DC Comics needs to take a hard look at switching out the writer and bringing back Barry Allen. It is painful to see the Flash franchise drowning like this.

Metamorpho The Element Man #2 dropped from the number 139 spot to the number 155 spot. You know, given the horrendous debut number, this was a much smaller drop in the rankings than I was expecting. We shall see if this title can hold steady or rise in the rankings, or if this title is destined to continue to slide down the Top 200.

Black Lightning #3 climbed back into the Top 200 and took the number 172 spot. This title has been a complete sales disaster.

Let’s wrap up with the ladies of the Justice League franchise.

Wonder Woman #17 ticked up from the number 47 spot to the number 40 spot. This is the third consecutive month that this title has sold outside of the Top 25. It looks like those days are behind this title and the new expectations are to see this title remain a steady Top 50 seller.

Black Canary Best of the Best #3 rebounded from the number 121 spot to the number 89 spot. It is unfortunate that a character as cool as Black Canary got saddled with Tom King and is selling this poorly.

The Absolute Universe

3 Absolute Wonder Woman #4

10 Absolute Superman #3

21 Absolute Batman #3 (Resolicitation)

24 Absolute Wonder Woman #3 (Resolicitation)

85 Absolute Wonder Woman #1 (Resolicitation)

86 Absolute Batman #1 (Resolicitation)

94 Absolute Superman #2 (Resolicitation)

121 Absolute Superman #1 (Resolicitation)

The Absolute Universe had three comics in the Top 10, five comics in the Top 25, and five comics in the Top 50. This was worse than December 2024 when the Absolute Universe had three comics in the Top 10, eight comics in the Top 25, and eight comics in the Top 50.

Absolute Batman #4 took the number 1 spot for the second consecutive month and the third time in four months. Nobody is stopping the Mega Powers tag team of Scott Snyder and Bruce Wayne.

The power of Absolute Batman is evident in the fact that this title placed all four issues of this title are in the Top 86. I have never seen that before. Phenomenal.

Absolute Wonder Woman #4 ticked up from the number 5 spot to the number 3 spot. All four issues of this title are in the Top 85. Insanity.

Absolute Superman #3 fell from the number 2 spot to the number 10 spot. All three issues of this title are in the Top 121. Absolute Superman is the weakest of the three titles, but it is still a total sales monster.

The Absolute Universe is a ball of fire right now, and it shows no signs of slowing down. Readers cannot get enough of this universe. DC Comics has to be beyond happy with the success they are having right out of the gate.

Supernatural Comics

58 Hellverine #2 (Marvel Comics)

70 DC Vs Vampires World War V #6 (Of 12) (DC Comics)

87 Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu #4 (Marvel Comics)

181 Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu #3 (Marvel Comics) (Resolicitation)

183 Hellhunters #1 (Marvel Comics) (Resolicitation)

Marvel Comics beat DC Comics by a score of 2-1 in the Top 100.

Hellverine #2 fell from the number 31 spot to the number 58 spot. Given the soft debut number, I expected this title to be out of the Top 50 with the second issue. I am not sure this title will be able to stay in the Top 75 over the next few months.

DC Vs Vampires World War V #6 rebounded from the number 125 spot to the number 70 spot. We are now at the halfway point of this limited series. We shall see if it can remain in the Top 100 until the conclusion.

Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu #4 dipped from the number 80 spot to the number 87 spot. This is the worst a Moon Knight title has sold since Jed Mackay took over the franchise.

Blade: Red Band #4 climbed from the number 131 spot to the number 105 spot. This title cannot escape the Dead Titles Walking category.

Hellhunters #2 crashed and burned falling from the number 50 spot to the number 114 spot. Welp. That was fast. It looks like this five-issue limited series will spend its duration in the Dead Titles Walking category.

Spirits of Vengeance #5 rebounded from the number 186 spot to the number 119 spot. This title continues to struggle.

Cosmic Comics

30 New Gods #2 (Of 12) (DC Comics)

126 Challengers of the Unknown #2 (Of 6) (DC Comics)

174 New Gods #1 (Of 12) (DC Comics) (Resolicitation)

Marvel Comics beat DC Comics by a score of 2-1 in the Top 50. Marvel Comics crushed DC Comics by the score of 5-1 in the Top 100.

New Gods #2 ticked down from the number 27 spot to the number 30 spot. Damn! Congrats to Ram V. That is both impressive and unexpected! This twelve-issue limited series may have some legs after all.

TVA #2 plummeted from the number 45 spot to the number 113 spot. I expected this five-issue limited series to fall off a sales cliff with the second issue. This comic was another example of Marvel Comics editorial coming up with ideas for comics that nobody asked for.

Challengers of the Unknown #2 fell from the number 70 spot to the number 126 spot. Welp. This is what I expected when I saw that Christopher Cantwell was the writer of this title. This six-issue limited series will spend the rest of its duration in the Dead Titles Walking category.

Legacy Character Comics

32 New Champions #1 (Marvel Comics)

43 Nightwing #122 (DC Comics)

162 JSA #3 (DC Comics) (Resolicitation)

177 Kid Venom #4 (Marvel Comics)

198 Birds of Prey #17 (DC Comics) (Resolicitation)

There were zero legacy character comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and two comics in the Top 50. This was flat compared to December 2024 when there were zero legacy character comics in the Top 10, zero comics in the Top 25, and two comics in the Top 50.

Year-over-year numbers were down, as zero legacy character comics were in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and three comics in the Top 50 in January 2024.

Numbers were up from two years ago as there was one legacy character comic in the Top 10, one comic in the Top 25, and one comic in the Top 50 in January 2023.

New Champions #1 had an unimpressive debut coming in at the number 32 spot. Steve Foxe was tasked with this team of unknown teenage heroes. I would expect this title to fall out of the Top 50 with the second issue.

Titans #19 rebounded from the number 103 spot to the number 73 spot. This title is still selling lower than it was right before the All-In Initiative creative team switch when Titans #16 took the number 59 spot.

Numbers were down in the Top 25 and flat in the Top 50 from two years ago as there were two mantle swap comics in the Top 10, two comics in the Top 25, and two comics in the Top 50 in August 2022.

Daredevil Unleash Hell – Red Band #1 debuted at the number 20 spot. This title is from Erica Schultz, who never has had anything remotely close to sales success, yet mysteriously keeps getting hired by Marvel Comics. Talk about being blessed. I would expect this title to be out of the Top 50 by the second or third issue.

Question All Along the Watchtower #3 rebounded from the number 116 spot to the number 91 spot. I would expect this six-issue limited series to drop back into the Dead Titles Walking category.

Marvel Comics edged out DC Comics by a score of 8-7 in the battle for the Top 100. The big difference between Marvel Comics and DC Comics is that Marvel Comics has a far more diverse selection of female characters in the To 100. Marvel Comics had eight different female leads in the Top 100. On the other hand, DC Comics only had three different female leads in the Top 100. Five of DC Comics’ seven comics in the Top 100 starred Wonder Woman.

The numbers for female lead comics in the Top 100 were up across the board over three years. However, this is a cyclical pattern that we have seen over the last three years. Marvel Comics and DC Comics will pump the market full of new female lead titles. After enjoying a nice temporary sales bump, the titles will all rapidly slide out of the Top 50 and the Top 100.

The only exception to this rule is Wonder Woman. Diana is the only female lead character capable of sustained Top 50 success. Having said that, Storm has enjoyed excellent success over her first four issues. So, we shall see if Storm can become a consistent Top 50 seller or not.

Jenny Sparks #6 rebounded from the number 193 spot to the number 134 spot.
