This week we are going to take a peek at the Top 10 healthiest states in America. I have a good idea which states are going to populate this list.

The Top 10 healthiest states are as follows:

10. Rhode Island
9. North Dakota
8. Hawaii
7. Nebraska
6. Iowa
5. Massachusetts
4. Maine
3. Vermont
2. New Hampshire
1. Minnesota

What is up with the New England area? The New England states dominated the Top 15 safest states that we touched on last week. Now, the New England area crushes the Top 10 list for the healthiest states by placing 4 states in the Top 5 and 5 states in the Top 10. If I ever become a rich man, I would have to buy a summer home in the New England area. Clearly, my winter home would have to be in either Palm Island, Hibiscus Island, Star Island or Fisher Island down in Miami.

All right, let’s check out the comic books for this week. We have another large week with 15 titles headed to the Bunker this week. This week’s shipment of comic books is heavier with Marvel titles than DC titles.

Which DC comic book am I most looking forward to reading? This is a pretty weak selection of comic books from DC this week. The only one that I’m really looking forward to reading is Action Comics #863. This issue is the conclusion to this painfully slow moving story arc. Maybe we will finally get some excitement with this finale.

Which DC comic book am I least looking forward to reading? This is a tough choice as two real stinkers come out this week. Countdown to Final Crisis #4 is sure to be another disappointing read. This title has been such a dismal story and I am simply no longer confident that Dini and Giffen can supply us with a quality ending.

However, the DC comic book that I am least looking forward to reading is Trials of Shazam #12. Judd Winick’s re-imagining of the Marvel Family has been nothing short of putrid. I cannot find anything positive at all to say about this horrendous title.

Which Marvel comic book am I most looking forward to reading? I really enjoyed the debut issue of Kick Ass. I had low expectations and was immediately hooked into Millar’s strange take on the super hero genre. I’m confident that Kick Ass #2 will be another good read.

Moon Knight #17 should also be another quality read. This title has been such a strong read and has shown no signs of slowing down despite a change at the writer position. This title satisfies my urge for dark, demented and violent stories.

However, this week is all about one issue: Secret Invasion #1. This debut issue of Marvel’s big event is hands down the Marvel comic book that I am most looking forward to reading. I am incredibly curious to see if Bendis can deliver a well constructed and entertaining story with this big event.

Which Marvel comic book am I least looking forward to reading? Amazing Spider-Man #555 is sure to be another unimpressive read. I just haven’t been hooked by the 1970’s all age’s version of Spider-Man that Marvel is giving to us with this Brand New Day story.

However, the Marvel comic book that I am least looking forward to reading has got to be The Twelve #4. JMS has gagged up some truly poor reads on this title. JMS appears to have no purpose or direction at all with this title other than to stand on his soapbox and engage in some truly bizarre, tangential and boring societal rants.

Now, normally The Revolution has nothing but Marvel and DC titles headed to the Bunker. We just don’t get many independent press titles. However, this week, Project Super Powers #2 heads our way from Dynamite Entertainment. If I had to pick which issue between all three publishers that I am most looking forward to reading it would certainly be Project Super Powers #2.

Jim Krueger has delivered a complex story that serves up a great mix of action, drama and character work. This title has been a fantastic read and is basically everything that The Twelve is not. And I’m glad that this title is getting respectable sales numbers. Project Super Powers #1 sold 53,721 issues. That is a nice sales number for an independent publisher.

As always, I’ll try my best to start posting reviews as soon as possible. I hope everyone enjoys their new comic books for this week.

  1. I can really appreciate the Revolution’s devotion to the big two, however, you should not limit yourself by missing out on some great indie comics. Walking Dead, Unbrella Academy, Buffy the vampire Slayer, ExMachina, Hunter Killer and Godland among some of the best and some I would highly recommend.

  2. I’d like to see a review of New Exiles. I HATED Claremont’s take after reading Exiles since #1 through Winick, Austen and Bedard who all gave that series their all and it showed. I stuck it out with Claremont until the switch to New (even through the dreadful Die By the Sword). My friend let me read New Exiles 1 and 2 which were an improvement over Claremont’s adjectiveless Exiles but still full of holes, inconsistencies and plain inanity (and I actually like the X-men the End seriess).
