Forbes.com released a list of the Top 10 most congested cities in America. Nothing sucks more than having to deal with a nightmarish commute first thing in the morning. That is one reason why I like living downtown. My commute is roughly three minutes from my office. Perfect.

10. Boston, Mass.
Annual delays per traveler: 46 hours
Commutes longer than 45 minutes: 20%
9. Dallas, Texas
Annual delays per traveler: 58 hours
Commutes longer than 45 minutes: 16.5%
8. Chicago, Ill.
Annual delays per traveler: 46 hours
Commutes longer than 45 minutes: 25%
7. Riverside-San Bernardino, Calif.
Annual delays per traveler: 49 hours
Commutes longer than 45 minutes: 23%
6. New York, NY
Annual delays per traveler: 46 hours
Commutes longer than 45 minutes: 43%
5. Houston, Texas
Annual delays per traveler: 56 hours
Commutes longer than 45 minutes: 17.3%
4. San Francisco, Calif.
Annual delays per traveler: 60 hours
Commutes longer than 45 minutes: 20%
3. Los Angeles, Calif.
Annual delays per traveler: 72 hours
Commutes longer than 45 minutes: 19%
2. Atlanta, GA
Annual delays per traveler: 60 hours
Commutes longer than 45 minutes: 24%
1. Washington, D.C.
Annual delays per traveler: 60 hours
Commutes longer than 45 minutes: 28.3%

I was stunned that my hometown of Miami didn’t make this Top 10 list. The traffic in the 305 is just horrible. I was not surprised at all that Washington, D.C. took the top spot on this list. It is insane how bad the traffic is on the beltway. It is truly a nightmare. And the traffic is bad enough to make a shy bald Buddhist reflect and plan a mass murder.

All right, let’s check out the comic books for this week. We have an average sized week with 11 titles headed to the Bunker. This week’s shipment of comic books is bit heavier with Marvel titles.

Which DC comic book am I most looking forward to reading? I guess I’m just a sucker for punishment, but I am really looking forward to DC Universe: Zero. I’m curious to see how DC manages to bridge the gap between Countdown to Final Crisis and Final Crisis.

Evidently, since Morrison wisely ignored the vast majority of Countdown to Final Crisis, DC had to scramble to slap together DC Universe: Zero in order to transition from Countdown to Final Crisis into Final Crisis. Hopefully, DC Universe: Zero will be a turning point and this issue will be a huge improvement over what we got served on Countdown to Final Crisis.

I’m also looking forward to Teen Titans #58. This title has been a solid read and I loved the last issue as we got to see Ravager kick an insane amount of ass. I dig this current story arc that McKeever is giving us even if it the concept of yet another evil Titan team isn’t all that original.

However, the DC comic book that I am most looking forward to reading is Legion of Super Heroes #41. The Revolution has not been shy at all with our praise for Jim Shooter’s run on this title. It is wonderful to finally read a Legion of Super Hero comic book that actually feels and reads like a true Legion story. Another reason why I’m so psyched for Legion of Super Heroes #41 is because Shvaughn Erin is on the cover.

Which DC comic book am I least looking forward to reading? That would probably be Green Lantern #30. That is a real surprise considering that Green Lantern is usually a title that The Revolution absolutely swoons over. But, I rarely enjoy origin issues and Green Lantern #30 is the second half of the average “secret origin” story that we got in the last issue.

Which Marvel comic book am I most looking forward to reading? Believe it or not, I’m looking forward to New Avengers #40 the most. Yeah, I know that is a real shocker given how much I have ruthlessly hammered New Avengers just about every single month. But, I am slowly but surely getting more and more interested in the events of Secret Invasion and New Avengers #40 should supply us with more back-story to fill us in on how and when the Skrulls began infiltrating Earth.

Which Marvel comic book am I least looking forward to reading? That would be X-Men Legacy #210. It isn’t that I dislike this title or think it is a terrible read. It just happens to be the weakest link this week. And I have found the past couple of issues to be nothing more than just average reads.

As always, I’ll try my best to start posting reviews as soon as possible. I hope everyone enjoys their new comic books for this week.

  1. DCU #0 is sort of a launch preview for the various storylines that will be happening this summer in Final Crisis, JLA, Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman (among others), so I’ll be interested to see what’s coming up.

Jim Cheung’s on New Avengers, following up on the Illuminati miniseries (the previews for the issue show that the first page is actually the last page of that miniseries’ #1, and then continues on after the Skrull Emperor’s last line).

  2. Regarding congestion. The truth is that all cities suck now. Too many cars, not enough public transportation. Sacramento is also horribly bad. Traffic starts at 3:30 and goes til 7 now. And the whole East Coast from DC to NY is awful. Traffic is something you don’t see too much in the comics.

On another note, I dropped Green Lantern. Too much Hal, too much origin. Liked the Abin Sur storyline but 2 or so pages a comic does not get my $3.
