I have certainly been enjoying the Olympics. Now, I am a huge sports fan, but I usually only watch football (Used to the Redskins, but this season will be the Browns thanks to the poll by the Followers of The Revolution), baseball (Washington Nationals and the soon to be Miami Marlins) and soccer (Boca Juniors and AC Milan, baby!). But, once every two years I enjoy watching the various Olympic sports like swimming, track, gymnastics and volleyball. And there are definitely plenty of amazing athletes out there in these various random sports.
The most fun so far in these Olympics has been watching Michael Phelps just destroying everyone. Last night was pretty cool as he won a new Olympic record number of gold medals and became the most decorated Olympic athlete of all time. And he did it all by setting new world records. And the guy is not even done yet! Amazing.
I have to admit that I have found all these swimming events to be pretty entertaining. My only source of confusion is trying to tell if the swimmers are male or female. Seriously, those are some manly female swimmers.
All right, it looks like we have a total of 11 titles headed to the Bunker. This week is very DC heavy as I am only getting four Marvel titles this week.
Which DC comic book am I most looking forward to reading? Action Comics #868 should be another entertaining read. I have completely enjoyed this Brainiac story arc over on Action Comics. Johns is such a talented world building who apparently has the magical ability to clean up any continuity mess that DC presents him.
However, the DC comic book that I am most looking forward to reading is Batman #679. I am thoroughly enjoying Morrison’s Batman RIP story arc. This is a “love it or hate it” story and I am definitely loving it. I am eager to see what insane twist Morrison has in store for us with this latest issue.
Which DC comic book am I least looking forward to reading? Booster Gold #11 is sure to be nothing more than filler as we are getting Chuck Dixon on the title for a two-part story. My interest in this title will return once Dan Jurgens takes over the writing duties for this title.
I am going with Trinity #11 as the DC comic book that I am least looking forward to reading. This story is rapidly losing my interest. There is still a chance that Busiek can make this title an intriguing read, but I am no longer expecting that to happen.
Which Marvel comic book am I most looking forward to reading? Despite my less than glowing reviews, I am still looking forward to reading Secret Invasion #5. What can I say? I am a sucker for a big event story even if I find it to be rather unimpressive. I am still holding out hope that Bendis can end up delivering a furious and entertaining to Secret Invasion.
However, the Marvel comic book that I am most looking forward to reading is Fantastic Four #559. Even though Millar’s run on this title has not set the sales charts on fire, I still am enjoying what Millar is doing with this title. I expect Millar to deliver another well crafted read with Fantastic Four #559.
Which Marvel comic book am I least looking forward to reading? I was completely unimpressed by Ellis’ uninspired debut issue on Astonishing X-Men. It really felt like Ellis was simply taking a paycheck and mailing it in. I am a huge fan of Ellis so hopefully he can rebound and deliver a much more interesting issue in Astonishing X-Men #26.
However, the Marvel comic book that I am least looking forward to reading is Amazing Spider-Man #567. This title is a completely hideous train wreck of a read. And this new little girl version of Kraven the Hunter is such a mind numbingly lame villain. The only thing that could get me to enjoy Spider-Man #567 would be if little Miss Karven-ette gets a spike driven through her head, then gets stuffed in a refrigerator and is never seen or heard from again.
As always, I’ll try my best to start posting reviews as soon as possible. I hope everyone enjoys their new comic books for this week.

I don’t know why you keep punishing yourself (and your wallet) by buying Amazing Spider-Man every week. It’s always low on your list and your expectations are always low too.
I’m getting Batman and Booster Gold, that’s the only titles where we overlap this week. Unfortunately, I hate R.I.P. so far and I thought last issue was awful. This one better be great or I’m dropping Batman until after Morrison leaves.
Booster Gold should be good IMO; I like Chuck Dixon a lot.

Action Comics #868: For the same reasons you already stated.
Final Crisis #3: Yes, this came out last week, and I didn’t buy #2, but I decided that the only way to see if I’ll like this story is to actually read it myself. Online reviews are all over the place, so they havene’t been helpful. I’ll let myself be the judge.
Final Crisis: Revelations #1: I’m new to the latest versions of the Question and the Spectre, but solicits made this seem like an interesting tie-in.
Trinity #11: Just because I like it.
Secret Invasion #5: If I don’t enjoy this issue, I’ll have serious doubts about the whole thing.
SI: Inhumans #1: Just how did Black Bolt get Skrulled? I want to know.
SI: Thor #1: Seems like the perfect opportunity to check in on the big guy.
