All right, let’s check out the comic books for this week. It appears that we have a nice normal sized shipment of comic books headed to the Bunker this week with a total of 14 titles. This week’s shipment of comic books is evenly split between DC and Marvel.

Which DC comic book am I most looking forward to reading? Superman/Batman #49 continues to be a surprising read. Green and Johnson have done a remarkable job reviving this moribund title.

However, the DC comic book that I am most looking forward to reading is Tangent: Superman’s Reign #4. This has been a fun little multiple Earth romp. It is great to have the Multiverse back so we can have neat adventures like this one.

Which DC comic book am I least looking forward to reading? I am not that excited about reading Batman and the Outsiders #8. This title has had its fair share turmoil with Tony Bedard be replaced by Chuck Dixon right before the first issue was to hit the stands. Now we have even more drama as Chuck Dixon and DC suddenly and surprisingly parted ways. I am getting close to giving up on this title.

I am not particularly excited about Justice League of America #22. This title has been a terribly pedestrian read and has served no purpose outside of shilling for stories to take place on other titles. This is another title that DC needs to focus on rebuilding.

However, the DC comic book that I am least looking forward to reading is Flash #241. Talk about a title that has crashed and burned. Ever since Johns left the Flash, this title has struggled to find any consistency at all.

Which Marvel comic book am I most looking forward to reading? Guardians of the Galaxy #2 should be a blast to read. DnA delivered a fantastic debut issue on this title. I am very excited to read the second issue.

Wolverine #66 should be a good read. In fact, this is the first time in forever that I have actually been looking forward to reading the newest issue of Wolverine. I dig Millar and am also a fan of McNiven’s art. Needless to say, I have high hopes for this Old Man Logan story arc.

Still, the Marvel comic book that I am most looking forward to reading is X-Factor #32. David always turns in a well crafted read and X-Factor is one of Marvel’s most dependable titles. It appears that this issue is going to be a critical moment in this team’s direction post-Messiah Complex.

Which Marvel comic book am I least looking forward to reading? That is easy. Amazing Spider-Man #563. I tried to be positive about this Mephisto retcon when “Brand New Day” first started. However, the fact remains that each issue has completely and totaled failed to impress me. I cannot believe I am saying this, but I am about to drop a title in Amazing Spider-Man that I have been reading since I was six years old.

As always, I’ll try my best to start posting reviews as soon as possible. I hope everyone enjoys their new comic books for this week.

  1. the two books i am most looking forward to are Incredible Hercules and Guardians of the Galaxy. Both books ended on big cliffhangers last issue and they should be interesting reads.

  2. I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the Flash over the last two issues and I really liked this week’s offering. The story of Wally’s children seems to be moving forward, Grodd is awesome and menacing, and there’s a scene that cleans up a loose end in the All-Flash one shot from last year.
