No Top 10 list or anything this week. I’m beginning to feel much better, but having to miss time from work has really increased my workload for this week. So, let’s go ahead and check out the comic books for this week. We have another large week with 15 titles headed to the Bunker this week. This week’s shipment of comic books is a bit heavier with Marvel titles than DC titles.

Which DC comic book am I most looking forward to reading? This is a tough choice. We have several exciting reads headed out way from DC. Salvation Run #5 should be an entertaining read. I have been pleasantly surprised with this mini-series. I was all prepared to be completely unimpressed with this title like I have been with just about every Countdown related mini-series. However, Salvation Run has turned out to be a tightly written fun ride.

I’m looking forward to Superman #674 only because Mon-El will be getting some panel time in this issue. Anytime a comic book guest stars a Legionnaire, my interest automatically increases.

I’m excited about Green Lantern Corps #22. All the exhilarating events taking place with the rise of the different Lantern Corps makes this title a must read.

However, it is Booster Gold #7 that is the DC comic book that I am most looking forward to reading this week. Johns and Katz continue to make Booster Gold one of DC’s best reads each and every month. I’m particularly pumped up to see Booster and Blue Beetle back in action together and taking on an army of OMACs.

Which DC comic book am I least looking forward to reading? That would be Countdown to Final Crisis #7. After teasing us with the possibility of an actual good ending to this disappointing title, Dini coughed up a real dog last week that pretty much crushed my hopes of us getting an ending that is anything close to entertaining.

Which Marvel comic book am I most looking forward to reading? I’m curious to see what Millar has in store for us with Fantastic Four #555. I was a bit surprised at how his debut issue on the Fantastic Four elicited such an overwhelmingly neutral response from me. Hopefully, Millar will get me more excited about this title with his second issue.

I’m also curious to read Last Defenders #1. I am a huge Defender fan. I loved the original Defenders and am glad to see Marvel revisiting this team once again. Hopefully, this title will turn out to be a fun little mini-series.

The Revolution was stunned and delighted at what a fun read the last issue of Mighty Avengers was. We got a great hook ending that makes me confident that Mighty Avengers #10 will be another enjoyable read.

Nova #11 should be another quality read. The Revolution has not posted any reviews on this title, but don’t confuse that with me not enjoying Nova. I have been so impressed with DnA’s work on this title. And that is saying something since I have never been impressed with DnA’s work prior to Nova. But, the fact is that DnA have seemed to have found their perfect niche that wonderfully suits their creative talents. Nova is a fine read each and every month and I would certainly encourage any comic book reader who enjoys sci-fi based titles like Green Lantern to give Nova a try.

However, the Marvel comic book that I am most looking forward to reading has to be X-Factor #29. Loyal followers of The Revolution are well aware of my undying love for Peter David’s work on X-Factor. This title is always a joy to read each and every month. I expect nothing less than another excellent read this week.

Which Marvel comic book am I least looking forward to reading? That would be Amazing Spider-Man #553. This title has been a bad read for so long. It has been years since I have actually enjoyed reading an issue of Amazing Spider-Man. I have always likes Spider-Man since I was just a little rug rat. And I have been reading this title forever. So it pains me to say this, but I think I am finally at the point where I might have to unleash the dreaded axe on this title and cut it from my permanent pull list.

As always, I’ll try my best to start posting reviews as soon as possible. I hope everyone enjoys their new comic books for this week.

  1. Speaking of Legion, thought you’d might like to know, but I’ve read a rumor about a new Legion mini coming out later this year by Geoff Johns and George Perez. I hope its true. See the gutters column in comicbookresources.com.

I would love to see John Byrne do a run of the Legion. The John Byrne of 20 years ago, that is.
