New Comic Books For May 17

All right, mi hermanos, let’s check out what the Revolution has coming to the Bunker this week.

DC

52 WEEK #2
ALL STAR BATMAN AND ROBIN THE BOY WONDER #4
AQUAMAN SWORD OF ATLANTIS #42
SHADOWPACT #1

Marvel

NOVA #2
CAPTAIN AMERICA #18
MOON KNIGHT #2
ULTIMATE X-MEN #70
WOLVERINE ORIGINS #2
X-MEN #186

Not too shabby of a week. Let’s see, what title is the Revolution most excited to read? Moon Knight, Moon Knight, Moon Knight. Hands down. I really enjoyed the first issue. I thought Huston did a great job writing Moon Knight and Finch’s artwork was just perfect for this title. Hopefully issue #2 will be just as good.

I’m also interested in 52 #2. It weird to be getting a comic weekly. But, I like it. Sure it is a little expensive, but it is fun not having to wait a month for the next issue. Plus, it fits the “real time” story telling approach of 52.

Of course, I’m looking forward to Captain America. Ed Brubaker has made this title one of the best reads out there right now. If you aren’t reading this title then get it immediately. It doesn’t matter if you are a big fan of Captain America or not. I was never much of a Captain America fan, but I love Brubaker’s run on this comic book.

What title am I looking forward to the least? That is easy. X-Men and Wolverine: Origins. The new creative team cannot start on X-Men soon enough. This title has been as listless as a whale without a tail.

I have a complete run on Wolverine, so it is natural that I want to collect Wolverine’s second title. Plus, I was interested in discovering more about Logan’s past. However, Daniel Way’s writing was just horrid on Wolverine: Origins #1. And Dillon’s art just didn’t work for me on that title. Even though I want to read about Wolverine’s past, I don’t think I can stomach much more of Way’s work on this title. I’ll give it my standard 6 issue grace period that I extend to any new title. But, I don’t expect Wolverine: Origins to make it from the Probation List on to my regular pull list.

The Savage Sword of Conan, I mean, Aquaman has also failed to impress me with the first two issues. It only has four more issues to keep from getting the axe at the end of its probation period.

I’m curious about Shadowpact #1. I think it has potential. I am not usually a huge fan of magic based comics, but we’ll give it an honest try.
