New Comic Books For October 18, 2006

DC COMICS

52 #24
Authority #1
Checkmate #7
Creeper #3
Robin #155
Wildcats #1

Which DC title am I most looking forward to reading? 52 #24. The last issue was great and I have a feeling that the writers are just getting warmed up on this title.

Which DC title am I least looking forward to reading? Creeper #3. I thought the first issue was pretty solid; however Creeper #2 was a bit of a disappointment. It will be interesting to see if this mini-series picks up and delivers a satisfying conclusion.

Which DC title am I most curious about? The two Wildstorm titles coming out this week: Authority #1 and Wildcats #1. I have decided to sample each of the new Wildstorm titles that DC is unleashing on us and give them one issue to hook me. So far, Wildstorm has taken a beating by The Revolution and stands at 0-2 with both Wetworks and Gen-13 utterly failing to impress me. Can Authority #1 or Wildcats #1 finally get Wildstorm in the win column here at the Revolution? I say yes. Why? Two words: Grant Morrison. Morrison fails to deliver and I expect a couple of well written and entertaining issues.

MARVEL COMICS

Ghost Rider #4
Ultimate Fantastic Four #35
Wolverine #47
X-Factor #12

Which Marvel title am I most looking forward to reading? That is too easy. X-Factor #12. There really is no competition.

Which Marvel title am I least looking forward to reading? That is also easy. Ghost Rider #4. It is only my loyal support of a character that I have always liked that makes me continue to purchase this title. It certainly isn’t the sorry excuse for writing that Way dishes out each and every issue.

As always, I will endeavor to start posting reviews by Thursday.

  1. I am looking forward to the Wildstorm reviews. I am desperate for these books to be good so I can be on the ground floor of a relaunch and be able to follow the story without too much continuity. I get the feeling with 52 that you either really get what they are doing or your ‘meh’ about it. I for one love 52 so I understand the enthusiasm week in week out. Looking forward to the reviews.
