Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 21 "Mangekyo Sharingan"

Sarada Uchiha Gets Overdue Spotlight In Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 21

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 21 has arrived and instantly became one of the most important chapters of the series. It is certainly an important chapter for Sarada Uchiha’s character. Finally after playing mostly a supporting role Sarada had the chance to shine in the latest Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter. With that development an important thing was highlighted when it came to Boruto Uzumaki and his greater role in this series. Let’s take a look at why this was such an important chapter for Sarada and Boruto.

The majority of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 21, which was properly titled “Mangekyō Sharingan”, focused on Sarada Uchiha. Specifically, with Sarada coming to terms with her feelings that she has constantly buried throughout her life. Throughout the opening of this new chapter we see how Sarada view of herself as an ordinary shinobi led her to be one that was protected, usually by Boruto and her father, Sasuke Uchiha. Rather than doing things herself she would lean on Sasuke, for example, to protect Boruto.

There was also a deeper exploration of how Sarada burying her feelings for Boruto were a big part of why she could not unlock her full potential. As she held herself back from seeing Boruto in a romantic light because of Sumire Kakei own feelings for Boruto and her goal to become Hokage, among other things.

This burial of feelings is the reason why Sarada original unlocking of her Mangekyō Sharingan was unique. It didn’t come from the traumatic experience of losing someone, rather it was the trauma of the thought of losing someone. This all happened in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Chapter 80, the last chapter of that series.

While it certainly positions this as a love interest thing that Sarada’s love for Boruto is so great it would cause her to unlock her Mangekyō Sharingan out of the thought of losing him. But what this really spoke to is what has held Sarada back from growing was her habit of burying things. Whether it’s her emotions or how she views herself in comparison to her peers. Sarada has had low self-esteem in her position in the Naruto franchise hierarchy.

Which made it no surprise that when she does finally come to terms with her emotions and who she is that Sarada fully unlocks her Mangekyō Sharingan. Possibly speaking to the unique way Sarada unlocked her Mangekyō Sharingan she utilized a new ninjutsu called Ōhirume. With Ōhirume, Sarada can manipulate the gravity around herself and enemies. This allows her to levitate and create multiple mini-blackholes to defeat the Human God Tree Ryu.

KOJI KASHIN ADMITS BORUTO UZUMAKI IS HOLDING SERIES BACK

The developments for Sarada in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 21 did more than spotlight the young Uchiha’s evolution. The latest chapter of Two Blue Vortex also highlighted Boruto’s role in the franchise. And that role is one on the negative side of how his character has been positioned since Boruto: Naruto Next Generations started.

This revelation comes from none other than Jiraya’s clone Koji Kashin. After Sarada successfully unlocks and utilizes her Mangekyō Sharingan, Koji reveals to Boruto that Sarada wouldn’t have been able to achieve the feat if he was there. This was a fact that Koji purposely held back from telling Boruto before the events of this chapter.

The reason Koji did this was not just so Sarada could unlock Mangekyō Sharingan but to keep Boruto from holding back this from happening. The reality is that Boruto actions would caused the events of this chapter to not happen as they did. In the process he has not allowed his friends and allies to be able to step up and overcome the odds.

With it being said out loud by Koji it confirms that Boruto has been the biggest detriment to other characters like Sarada getting much of a spotlight. Boruto and Kawaki have had such a command of the spotlight there has been very little time for other characters to develop. Which is highlighted by how when Sarada finally gets to be the lead of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 21 she gets her biggest development yet.

Though interestingly enough, Koji makes what could be seen as an out of character choice at the end of this chapter. That is because Koji decided to reveal what would happen if Boruto goes the current battlefield to save his sensei, Konohamaru Sarutobi. Koji outright admits while he may save Konohamaru the moment he arrives Jura will be alerted and will capture Boruto.

While Boruto decides to go against Koji’s wishes and goes to save Konohamaru there is the question if Koji did this on purpose. Koji did seem to be angry about Boruto’s choice, but this may be because it forces a future where it forces him to act as well. It certainly creates a lot of intrigue to find out what decisions are made by Boruto, Koji, Jura, and other players in the next chapter.
