This month BOOM! Studios is going to be taking us on a whole new journey through Neverland with The Last Boy. Written by Dan Panosian with artwork by artist Alessio Avallone, colorist Valentina Pinto, and letterer Jeff Eckleberry, this new series is reimagining the adventures of Peter Pan. This new adventure through Neverland will release on Wednesday, March 19th.
This new Peter Pan comic book continues the twisted versions of childhood classics that Panosian has written before. The current Nightwing writer, Panosian previously wrote Alice Ever After and Alice Never After for BOOM! Studios that did a dark twist on the Alice in Wonderland story. Panosian is going to continue that tradition of boldly reimaging classic tales in talking about The Last Boy #1:
“Having grown up fascinated with the Peter Pan films and books, I desperately wanted to tell a Peter Pan and Wendy story that takes place years after they encountered one another….I wondered what would happen if everyone around Peter grew up but he still hadn’t, even if his very life and those he loved depended on it!”
Series artist Alessio Avallone followed that by saying:
“I’ve loved Peter Pan’s story since childhood—maybe because, like all comic book artists, we’re eternal children? But as an adult artist, this project gave me a creative freedom I hadn’t felt in a while….The real challenge was capturing the contrast between the foggy London and the dreamy Neverland. I hope readers enjoy it!”

As their desires create a mirror of fantasy and reality, a disastrous encounter with the aging Captain Hook becomes the catalyst for Peter’s realization that Neverland is growing up without him.
But will the two of them find each other once again to carry on their age-old adventures…or is this truly the final threshold of their adolescence?
