Marvel Comics March 2025 Solicitations

Top Takeaways From Marvel Comics March 2025 Solicitations

Marvel Comics March 2025 solicitations are here! And to no surprise Marvel’s upcoming plans are dominated by the One World Under Doom event along with plans for Spider-Man and the X-Men. With that in mind, let’s look at the biggest takeaways from Marvel Comics March 2025 comic book solicitations.

GODZILLA INVADES THE MARVEL UNIVERSE

Godzilla has been a franchise that has not backed down from crossing over with franchises from other brands. In the comic book side Godzilla recently had separate crossovers with the Justice League and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Now Godzilla is taking their talents to the Marvel Universe in 2025 with a series of one-shots starting with Godzilla vs Fantastic Four.

Godzilla is no stranger to the Marvel Universe. From 1977 to 1979 Marvel published a Godzilla: King of the Monsters series that was set in the Marvel Universe. In that series Godzilla clashed with the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and SHIELD. Based on the way the solicitations for Godzilla vs Fantastic Four go it looks like we will see a similar tone being taken.

This also continues the trend of Marvel being more open to crossing over with other brands. That’s been easier with brands like Aliens and Predator falling under the Disney umbrella. But we’ve also seen a crossover with Ultraman, the Japanese iconic brand. Crossing over with Godzilla indicates that we will see even more crossovers with other brands in 2025. A crossover with DC Comics likely is not around the comic book but with Marvel partnering with Viz Media maybe we’ll get more crossovers with Japan franchises.

ONE WORLD UNDER DOOM CONTINUES DOMINATION

One World Under Doom has given the Marvel Universe one clear direction to have for a large part of 2025. Starting out that way does give fans an idea of the vision Marvel has for their universe. Specifically, this is giving a focus for the Avengers and Fantastic Four franchises, and all those that fall under that umbrella,

This leads to March being a big month for the Fantastic Four as Doctor Doom changes The Thing’s life with his powers. From the solicitation of One World Under Doom #2 and Fantastic Four #30 Doctor Doom strips Ben Grimm of his powers and makes him just a normal person again. Though unlike previous times this has happened, the way it is being done will leave Ben in a terrible spot publicly and privately. This could in turn make Ben become a lead hero in the Marvel event as he is set up be even more motivated to defeat Doom.

CHARLES XAVIER CAUSES AN X-MANHUNT

Charles Xavier sure loves to make the X-Men’s lives as difficult as possible. We all knew it was only a matter of time before he would escape prison and try to redeem himself. He spent the entirety of Uncanny X-Men #700 trying to get his former students a reason they need him or at least escape prison.

Now it appears Charles Xavier is tired of waiting for a reason and is escaping Graymalkin Prison. Given the current X-Men and Uncanny X-Men crossover titled “Raid on Graymalkin” it wouldn’t be surprising if Xavier used that event as his way to escape.

The question is why he has chosen to do so now. He had such a sever fall from grace that the X-Men aren’t really in a spot to welcome their former mentor and father-figure back into the fold. Xavier being on the run shows that he at least understands that.

With X-Manhunt taking starting and ending in March it does show that Marvel knows they can’t let crossovers dominate all the X-Men titles. The one-month time period leaves there questions how Xavier’s escape will shape the rest of 2025 for all the X-Men teams.

ULTIMATE UNIVERSE SETTING UP MUTANT CRISIS

With every passing month the new Ultimate Universe has been having the foundation set for a lot of different big storylines to be told in 2025 and beyond. On the mutant side of the world we have been learning more and more about how mutants are viewed in the world. In Ultimate X-Men we’ve seen that mutants aren’t the most commonly well know people. Even with The Maker’s Council having organization with mutant camps the public doesn’t know about it.

How much a secret the mutants are is going to be in the spotlight in 2025. Now beyond Ultimate X-Men we are seeing The Maker’s Council going after other mutants. That is seen in the solicitation for Ultimate Wolverine #2 as the Winter Soldier will be hunting Kitty Pryde and Gambit.

What makes this standout even more is the revelation that Kitty Pryde and Gambit are part of an organization known as the Opposition. This indicates that there has been some already fighting The Maker’s Council from the underground. Possibly what The Maker’s Council has been doing to mutants has caused classic X-Men characters to form an underground organization. Given that we know where many of the classic X-Men and other heroes are in this new Ultimate Universe there are many possibilities for what The Opposition is as an organization.

WHAT IS SPIDER-MAN’S 2025 DIRECTION?

The ending of 2024 and beginning of 2025 for Peter Parker is dominated by “The 8 Deaths of Spider-Man.” That story is finally going to end in March. That leaves a lot of questions for what the rest of 2025 means for Spider-Man. “The 8 Deaths of Spider-Man” should be an event that changes Peter to his core as a person not just a hero.

Though experiencing death so many times could give Marvel’s editorial a reason to reset the character. Afterall Joe Kelly, Pepe Laraz, and John Romita Jr. have been announced as the new long-term creative team for Amazing Spider-Man. So “The 8 Deaths of Spider-Man” can be their way of having a fresh start for Peter Parker. That something Spider-Man Editor Nick Lowe loves to do since he has shown to hate directions that have long-term effects on Peter. It always has to go back to the “Parker Luck” Spider-Man.

But hey this is at least Joe Kelly. He has shown himself to have a great handle on Peter Parker and likes writing a version that honors what has come before. So maybe Kelly can avoid the pitfalls that this Lowe era has brought. We will see.
