Comic Book Reviews: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #121MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS #121

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer: Melissa Flores

Artist: Hendry Prasetya

Colorist: Matt Herms

Letterer: Ed Dukeshire

Since BOOM! Studios Power Rangers comic book Billy Cranston has had some of the most consistent development. The only ones that could be argued to have gotten more development are Tommy Oliver and Kimberly Hart. Given the places Darkest Hour has gone Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #121 focusing on the major gamble Billy feels like has to take adds to the stakes at hand. While this is great for Billy’s character arc it doesn’t do much for all the others involved in this story. There are so many characters involved in Darkest Hour that it’s been odd to see so many just shuffled to the side. Though having Hendry Prasetya back on art duties does help still make Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #121 feel important.

The Spectacular Spider-Men #4 has a lot of heart thanks to its story. That is thanks to how Greg Weisman and Humberto Ramos utilize Peter Parker and Miles Morales deepest desires to provide meaningful character insight. Comic Book Reviews: Spider-Gwen: The Ghost-Spider #2SPIDER-GWEN: THE GHOST-SPIDER #2

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer: Stephanie Phillips

Artist: Federica Mancin

Colorist: Matt Milla

Letterer: Ariana Maher

Bringing in Peter Parker, Miles Morales, and Cindy Moon was a big step up for Spider-Gwen: The Ghost-Spider #2 compared to its debut issue. The involvement of other Spider-Man Family members spotlights how important having a strong supporting cast for the leads are to each comic book in the franchise. The dynamic Gwen Stacy has with Peter, Miles, and Cindy brings greater importance to the decision she makes as to why she is on Earth-616. Peter and Miles in particular have an interaction that provides key perspectives for what is going on in this first story arc. It helps transition into the big reveal of the real identity of the villain Gwen is facing off in Spider-Gwen: The Ghost-Spider’s first story arc.

Void Rivals #10 Cover A by Lorenzo De FeliciVOID RIVALS #10

CREATIVE TEAM

Writer: Robert Kirkman

Artist: Lorenzo De Felici

Colorist: Patricio Delpeche

Letterer: Rus Wooton

Void Rivals #10 moves us deeper into connecting the Energon Universe together while still keeping each franchise separate. This is all done through the sense of tension that is brought with the situation Solila is in while Autobot Springer fights Proximus. The mix of tension between the strong action and drama surrounding our lead characters shines a light on how great of an artist Lorenzo De Felici is. The way Felici choreographs what Robert Kirkman writes to happen gels incredibly well. It all leads to an ending that brings a lot of exciting questions that you can’t wait to get the answers for what will happen next.
